Our primary staff consists of: J. Alfonso; President

Joanne Alfonso has over seventeen years experience in alternative education, including teaching, curriculum development, and administration. She has been involved in home schooling for many years and has a profound love and understanding of children. Her passion is working with children who demonstrate their own unique way of learning and offer a challenge to take the road less traveled. She believes learning can be an experience that can make children's hearts sing. Joanne enjoys working with children of all ages, and she, along with the rest of her staff, hopes to motivate students to observe, question and explore their worlds. As a credentialed teacher, she has extensive teaching experience and has developed courses for Malibu Cove High School, including Advanced Placement and Remedial programs. She encourages Malibu Cove High students to express their own creativity through projects and written work.

Steve Bryan B.A., M.S.; Academic Program Director.
Steve has twenty three years of experience as a teacher and administrator. He has served as a district level curriculum director. He has conducted a variety of workshops for home schooled children and their parents on curriculum, lesson planning, and motivational techniques. Steve works with our subject matter experts to create, update, and revise Malibu Cove High School's courses and continually improve them to maximize their educational value.

G.A. Villarreal; Ph.D., N.D.-- Contributing Academic Consultant
Due to her very busy schedule, we feel fortunate to have input from Dr. Villarreal. She is a Wildlife Photojournalist and Naturopathic Physician, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, and a Ph.D. in Natural Health Medicine. She is the author of several children's books, and has published many articles on environmental issues for "Wildlife," "Sierra," "Bugle," "Sea Frontiers," "Animals," "E The Environmental Magazine," Wild Outdoor World," "Boys' Quest," and "Falcon, For Young Conservationists." Dr. Villarreal is devoted to ensuring that all Malibu Cove High students receive the highest quality education possible. We consider her an excellent source for academic consultation.
