What are the prerequisites for enrollment?
Our program is designed to satisfy the needs of self-motivated, responsible students of all ages and backgrounds, who have a strong design to learn, prefer to study independently and are comfortable using the Internet and e-mail. For those under age 18, a parent or guardian must approve the student's enrollment. Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll in the Accelerated Program
Is MCHS Online accredited?
Yes! We're nationally accredited by AAODL (American Association Of Distance Learning)
I was home-schooled for Grade 8. Can I enroll in MCHS?
Absolutely! Home school students have a lot to gain from our program. Please fill out the Customizable Curriculum Form included with the MCHS enrollment forms, to ensure proper customization of your high school program.
I've completed some high school already. Could I transfer my credits?
Yes. When you send us a copy of the official transcript from your previous school, we'll evaluate your past academic achievements and apply credits accordingly. If you do not have a public/private school transcript, you may send us a list of courses completed and grades received for each course, signed by a parent or guardian. Our Academics Department will assess your completed work and apply credits accordingly.
How many credits do I need to graduate?
In the General Diploma Program, a minimum of 22 credits must be completed to qualify for a MCHS diploma, with a total of 16 credits necessary to graduate from our Accelerated Program.
Credit for any Malibu Cove High School course may be conferred once the following conditions are met:
All assignments must have been submitted and passed.
Student must earn an overall average passing grade of 65 or above.
Tuition must be paid in full.
How readily are MCHS credits accepted by colleges?
Many fine colleges readily accept credits earned at our school. In fact, graduates of Malibu Cove High have been accepted at more than 300 colleges nationwide. These include community colleges, technical schools, state universities and many well respected private colleges and universities. However, students and parents should check with each post-secondary institution in advance regarding acceptance of credits earned from distance learning private schools such as Malibu Cove High , that are nationally accredited.
How soon after enrolling can I start?
Enrollment processing is completed within 7 business days. Your full year's curriculum will be shipped within 10 business days of enrollment processing.
How are my assignments graded?
Assignments are mailed back to your assigned Academic Advisor and then graded. Students are sent progress reports throughout the program with helpful comments and feedback. Grades and assignments are saved in the student's confidential account folder.
What if the student has questions or needs help?
We are proud of the one-on-one guidance that serves as a cornerstone of our academically challenging program. Students can contact their Academic Advisors by e-mail with questions or problems that may arise. Advisors offer caring, attentive guidance five days a week, from 8:00am to 4:00pm PST Monday through Friday.
How long should it take to graduate?
Students who spend an average of two hours each day on each course work should be able to finish a year of high school in six months to one year. However, there are no deadlines and students are encouraged to take the time they need to fully understand the subject matter.
How often, and where, do I send my monthly payments?
Monthly payments should be mailed to: Malibu Cove High School, Billing Dept., PO Box 1014 Thousand Oaks, CA 91358. Unless you have paid all of your tuition in advance, you will receive an invoice every thirty days. Your invoice will be for the minimum payment required. However, you may make larger payments at any time. Remember: your tuition is INTEREST-FREE. Please be prompt in mailing your payments to avoid late fees.
